A slow, considered three-day Santorini itinerary for seeing the island without turning the trip into a checklist. This route balances the caldera villages, the sea, volcanic landscapes and enough time to actually enjoy where you are.
Before you go
Santorini is part of the Cyclades and is known for its caldera villages, volcanic beaches and dramatic sunsets. Oia and Fira sit along the caldera rim, while the island’s south offers Akrotiri and distinctive volcanic beaches. A caldera cruise is one of the easiest ways to experience the volcanic islets from the water.
Day 1 — Imerovigli, Oia & sunset
Morning: Imerovigli
Start slowly in Imerovigli. Wander the whitewashed lanes, stop for coffee and take in the caldera views before the day becomes busy.
Afternoon: Oia
Continue to Oia for a long lunch and an unhurried afternoon through the village. Leave time for the little lanes, viewpoints and shops rather than trying to rush from one photo spot to the next.
Late afternoon: Ammoudi Bay
If energy and timing allow, head down toward Ammoudi Bay for the contrast of red cliffs, fishing boats and the sea below Oia.
Evening: Oia sunset
Finish your first day with sunset in Oia, then stay for dinner once the daytime crowds begin to thin.
Day 2 — Fira & the caldera
Morning: Fira
Spend the morning in Fira. Explore the lanes along the caldera edge, have breakfast or an early lunch, and enjoy a slower start before heading onto the water.
Afternoon: Caldera cruise
Make the caldera the focus of day two. Many cruises visit the volcanic area around Nea Kameni, Palia Kameni and Thirasia, giving you a completely different perspective of Santorini from the sea.
Evening: Dinner with a view
Return to Fira or Imerovigli for dinner. Keep the evening simple — good food, a glass of something cold and nowhere else you need to be.
Day 3 — Akrotiri, volcanic beaches & Pyrgos
Morning: Akrotiri
Begin at the archaeological site of Akrotiri, the prehistoric settlement preserved beneath volcanic ash. It adds an entirely different layer to the island beyond the familiar blue-and-white imagery.
Midday: The south coast
Continue toward Red Beach, then choose Perissa or Perivolos for a relaxed lunch and time by the black-sand coastline.
Late afternoon: Pyrgos
Head inland to Pyrgos for the final part of the trip. Wander the village, stop somewhere for local wine, and enjoy a quieter side of Santorini before your final dinner.
The Casa Vista way to do Santorini
Three days is enough to experience several sides of the island, but the best version of Santorini is not the one where you see everything. Pick one main experience for each half of the day, leave space between plans, and let the island feel like a holiday rather than an itinerary you are racing to finish.
